Jonathan Boelkins is an award-winning architect and an Instructor at the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University of Arkansas.   He completed a Master's Degree as a Danforth Scholar at Washington University in St. Louis in Advanced Architectural Design and is the Principal of his eponymous firm, Jonathan Boelkins Architect.  He previously served as the Studio Director at the acclaimed design practice of Marlon Blackwell Architects and supervised the completion of several significant internationally-recognized projects including the Ruth Lilly Visitor’s Pavilion at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Saint Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church, and the Porchdog House.  Jonathan led the transition to Building Information Modeling at Marlon Blackwell Architects which resulted in a Technology in Architectural Practice Award from the American Institute of Architects in 2012. His areas of expertise in teaching are in construction detailing, the use of digital tools in architectural production, and numerous issues related to professional practice.   He also holds a degree in Business Administration and a Commercial Pilot’s License.

Jonathan Boelkins is the Principal of Jonathan Boelkins Architect, a Teaching Assistant Professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s School of Architecture and Design, and Special Assistant to the Dean for Timber and Wood Initiatives at the Fay Jones School of Architecture + Design at the University of Arkansas. As a practicing architect with over 18 years of experience, he has consistently produced award-winning architecture, both independently and as a member of several firms. As the Studio Director in the acclaimed design firm Marlon Blackwell Architects, he contributed to the design and completion of several significant projects including the Ruth Lilly Visitors Pavilion at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Saint Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church, and the Porchdog House, each of which has received National Honor Awards from the American Institute of Architects. Saint Nicholas also received international recognition as the Best Civic and Community Building at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona in 2012. 

He received his Master’s Degree in Advanced Architectural Design as a Danforth Scholar at Washington University in St. Louis and also holds Bachelor’s degrees in Architecture from the University of Arkansas and in Business Administration from Geneva College. He is a licensed architect (Arkansas #4785) and is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
